Not sure if this is by design, but I've noticed that if after a subscripber opts out using the confirmation email and they then at a later date opts back in (using the confirmation link in the same email), their status will change to "Active" but they remain in the Suppressed list.
This potentially could cause confusion since they've then said that they want to receive correspondence but nothing will arrive because they are suppressed?
Hey there Dave, thanks for your feedback here - I see how this could potentially cause confusion. In essence, the opt-out link is behaving as it should - like an unsubscribe link, by ensuring the subscriber is both removed from the subscriber list and suppressed. The opt-in link by design is only really meant to move subscribers from 'Unconfirmed' to 'Active'. However, I can see the value in making sure it removes the subscriber from the suppression list, too. I'm happy to pass this on to our devs and see if it's a behavior we're interested in changing.
In the interim, you could consider adding a message prompting folks to resubscribe via your site. This will result in the email address being successfully re-added to the list.
Thanks, Dave! I'll let you know if we have any updates on this. Have a great weekend ahead!
Update: It looks like you've been discussing this with Ken directly on your other thread - excellent!
I was discussing with a different issue. I will repost there then and you can close this thread.
Cheers Dave, I've seen your other thread and will ask Ken if he has any suggestions to add there. It's likely an issue we'll have to patch up internally, though - sorry about that.
