We have conducted business for years under our domain name buydentalequipment.com which is also where our mailing list sends from. A few of years ago we got a hold of the dentalplanet.com domain name and built a small website there. We continued to bulid both of these websites but I've kept the mailing list with buydentalequipment as moving domains is usually a no no and that is where we conduct the bulk of our business.
We are discussing consolidating our sites now all under the dentalplanet roof. Would also like to move our mailing list.
We've been double branding our email and website for some time now, so this shouldn't be too much a surprise to our customers. Do people even pay attention to the url?
Just was wondering for some advice on what the best way to do this was. Thank you.
Hey there Ataylor, it's probably still worth informing your customers about the change of URL, if only for whitelisting purposes.
We've written a blog post on announcing a change to your company details and branding to customers. You may find it to be very useful. Sending a campaign announcing the transition will certainly nip any confusion your subscribers may have, then and there. The issue of course is that if you change your domain without warning, there's the possibility that some folks may assume it's a totally different company that's sending them newsletters.
Finally, I'd recommend making sure your new domain is authenticated.
Thanks, Ataylor! If you have any questions about the above, be sure to let us know.
