Is there a way to track a subscriber through my website after clicking a link in the newsletter? So I want to know what link Joe Blogs clicked in the email that takes him to my website (CM already does this) and then the subsequent links that are clicked on by Joe in my website
Hi AndrewArmanios, Google Analytics changed their policy a few years ago, so that no personally-identifiable information can be found in their reports. As a result, it isn't possible to do any kind of behavioural tracking in GA.
If you're really keen to do this, you may want to look into using cookies on your site. This isn't my area of expertise though, sorry!
Hi guys, Ros is right but I'm going to assume that you don't want to identify the behaviour of individuals so this should be ok.
you can add tracking to the query string of any link to identify the source, medium, campaign and even link that was clicked, the former three are mandatory and are used as follows;
utm_medium, utm_source and utm_campaign are all needed for tracking but you can add utm_content to identify the individual link that was clicked. I suggest you research query string if this is all confusing to you,
hope that helps
Thanks for the info guys
