We use autoresponders to encourage subscribers to sign up for paid membership on a site. I didn't think there was a way to know which responder actually lead to the sale - just had an overall understanding of influence of CM as a whole on conversions.
Just had a thought - could we maybe put our own UTMs on the links and then add that into our autoresponders? So for instance if autoresponder 1 links to sign up form have it say "autoresponder 1" in the UTM so we know how many steps people have to go through until they actually convert.
Do you think this could work ?? :)
Hi there Kris2, yes, you can add your own utm values. As our autoresponders don't currently offer tracking for individual links anyway, you could certainly add your custom GA tags, like:
<a href="http://yourdomain.com/signup?utm_source=autoresponder&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=signuplink" cm_dontconvertlink>
The cm_dontconvertlink ensures that the link isn't re-tagged.
Thanks, Kris2 - does this sound like a good option? Let us know how you go :)
