Hi guys, simple batch import job for you.
Simple xls list of name and email. We need these batch imported via the API so that the associated auto response is triggered.
Hi there Andy, thanks for posting this job here and sorry for not realizing this when I sent you a tweet earlier. I suspect it may be worth your while importing this list and sending a regular campaign, then using autoresponders to send email to new subscribers after this manual import. This will certainly require much less effort then engaging a developer.
I hope this is a practical suggestion, but please let us know more about your scenario here if you don't think our suggestion is a good fit :)
Yep we could send them a straight campaign but new people being added to the list every day through entering a comeptition. We paste new subscribers in to the list everyday but pasting people in doesn't trigger the auto response. So then sending a the campaign again means people would get the campaign twice.
If pasted subscribers triggered the auto response then happy days but sadly not! :)
Hey there Andy, thanks for these details! Are competition entries being collected online, or offline? Perhaps we can find a more automated way to go about things here, as I agree, manually sending campaigns can be a hassle in situations like this!
Captured online but not firing into a list so we entrants that nominated contacts into csv and then paste them in. That doesn't trigger the auto response so a little stuck :) so far we are creating a list for each day and then "edit and resend" the same email to each new list. A bit untidy but it works and avoids sending to people twice (as long as they don't enter twice on different days).
Don't worry if there is no obvious solution, the process is boring but dead simple so I'm not too bothered by it!
Cheers Andy - I can totally relate to the boring bit, I used to look after competitions too, but now recommend using an integration to get entrants added directly to a subscriber list. You're right, copy/pasting from a CSV won't trigger the autoresponders, sadly, but most integrations will.
If there's anything we can do to help automate this process, be sure to let us know :)
You could use Zapier, which is an simple way to push data from one service to another.
You could paste your information into a Google Docs spreadsheet, and Zapier would check for new rows and create Campaign Monitor subscribers.
This is the particular 'zap' you would use: https://zapier.com/zapbook/google-docs/ … readsheet/
As this is using Campaign Monitor's API, it will trigger the autoresponder.
You can do all this on the free plan too - as long as you don't add a new row more than 100 times a month, and you don't mind waiting 15 minutes for the subscriber to be added to CM.
Jayc - excellent suggestion! We're big fans of Zapier here, as they can be very useful in situations like this!
