I paste content into CM from a variety of sources. It seems that frequently when I add a second paragraph to a text block the font changes from default (which I believe to be 13) to font size 14, creating inconsistencies.
The only solution I've found is to edit the source code to remove that font change.
Has anyone found a way of avoiding this problem or solving it more easily?
Hi again margot, if you're pasting content into a multiline field, there's a chance that some of the formatting from the different sources you mention may be getting carried over - we find this happens regularly with text copied from Microsoft Word. Our advice here is to paste the content into a plain-text editor like Notepad/TextEdit first to strip any extraneous formatting, before pasting into the editor. With luck, that will stop the font changes, but let us know if these changes continue :)
maybe you can add into editor some function like "Clear formating" (I vote for it). Like has TinyMCE html editor, for example (link: http://www.tinymce.com/). It is another way to clear formating and maybe simplest, if you do not want to go through a html source in Notepad or another plain text editor. On page I linked, is fully functional demo, then simply paste formated text here (Ctrl+V), select all (Ctrl+A) and in menu "Format" is as last option "Clear formatting". After this, text is still selected, then simply copy it back into clipboard (Ctrl+C) and paste into CM editor.
That definitely sounds useful to me! I'll check it out. Thank you.
You're welcome. Maybe a similar way is in Microsoft Word via Ctrl+space, but this do not really clear formatting, but only change style to default Normal paragraph, and copy into clipboard maybe copying this (default) formatting too. But you will not be able to paste it into CM editor as unformatted text, maybe only into its Source View. Microsoft Word have this functionality for customise inserted text into used paragraph style. Using any online HTML editor (like TinyMCE - I like it) is very sipmplest way.
Dedra, this is a solid suggestion - we'll certainly see what we can do about clear formatting, as that's certainly preferable than using Notepad, or similar. Will keep you updated on how we go on this - thanks again!
Rosanne, thank you for accept my suggestion. Maybe you have a lot of work to improve your system. It is clear, that you can not satisfy all users, who have something to suggest. Thanks again.
If you look at TiniMCE functions, it has some specific features like paste as plain text, previous version had feature for paste from Word (I remember). And many more. For example, insert inline images, insert tables, insert special characters, smileys and many features for formatting etc.
Thanks for the details here - ensuring that content pasted from Word is formatted correctly is something we'd like to focus on in particular. While we can't make any promises that this will be overhauled in the near future (or that we'll use TinyMCE, mind), we'll be sure to keep this one on the radar. As always, we dig your suggestions, dedra - and we'll do our best to make good on them :)
Please add my vote to adding a "clear formatting" button to the editor.
I have a client that's gone a bit nuts with bolding and text size and it's pretty frustrating that I can't have them click a button to start over... but need them to copy and paste from a separate app.
