For the wish list: Autoresponders - ability to specify send time

At the moment auto responders are sent out at 00:01 in your chosen time zone.  Now as we all know this is not a great time to send :-)

What would be great is to be able to specify a send time for your chosen time zone. Now this wouldn't be ideal for customers sending to subscribers in different time zones (eg in the US or Aus) but for those of us in the UK it would be ideal.

I have asked before why it's 00:01, and was given a valid reason which I can't remember!

Hi there Julian, I've got some good news for you - it's possible to specify send time in the app. By default the autoresponders send at 00:01 (just for lack of knowing a more appropriate time), however, you could specify "9 hours after..." if you wanted the email to go out at 9am in your time zone.

Let us know if you have any issues with this - always happy to help :)

Aha that sounds like a good solution in some cases Ros, but I'm not sure about my current auto responders.  How would it work for these?

1. A restaurant sends an anniversary email 4 weeks before the actual anniversary - to give them time to book for the important day!  I cannot specify "hours before" in this scenario ... can I?

2. Another client sends a series of emails at 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29 days after the trigger date. The data is imported by me once a week and I enter the Monday as the trigger date.
For the 1 Day autoresponder I could set the Tuesday as the trigger date and set it to say, 12 hours, so it goes out at midday. But for the following ones because they're day based, I can't specify hours, or can I?

Hi there Julian, glad I have a few answers for you here! :)

> 1. A restaurant sends an anniversary email 4 weeks before the actual anniversary - to give them time to book for the important day!  I cannot specify "hours before" in this scenario ... can I?

If you calculate the exact time in hours, you can specify for the autoresponder to send before the anniversary of a date in this manner with no troubles. See: http://cl.ly/image/3o0l162W1J2m

Many folks would specify this time period in weeks/months, but hours is totally possible :)

> But for the following ones because they're day based, I can't specify hours, or can I?

You can also specify hours for these, for example, 8 days after the trigger date at midnight = 192 hours. This admittedly isn't as easy to manage as simply specifying "8 days after the trigger date", but I believe you will get the precision you need by doing it this way.

Thanks, Julian - good luck!

Fantastic Ros, your logic shines through as ever!  I wrongly assumed the max hours you could enter is 23.  Gonna get my calculator out and convert all these to hours.
