Gmail App (Android) - Text size

Hi, quick question for the email experts! :)

Do you know if there's a way in the Gmail App for Android to disable (via CSS) the auto-fit feature? Because of this, the text contained one of my cell is way too large.

Thanks!

Hi there, sadly we haven't found a way to disable the baseline font size as yet in Gmail, I'm sorry to say. There's an interesting discussion on autofit, so we'd love if you could share what you're seeing there. Best of luck!

I figured out earlier this year that of you add min-width to a container table (one that wraps all your other tables, NOT your 100% container) then you should see most, if not all auto fit issues dissapear since most auto-fit issues are related in some way to the device independent pixel (DIP) width.

I tried that but unfortunately it didn't solve the problem! :(

Hello, I know this thread is older but I was wondering if there was ever a resolution found. I tried Redferret's suggestion and it did not work. I am including a stripped down version of the email I am working on:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />
<title>Untitled Document</title>
</head>

<body>
<table width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="margin:0;padding:0;">
    <tr>
        <td align="center">
            <table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0">
                <tr>
                    <td width="600" height="32" align="center" valign="top" bgcolor="#FFFFFF">
                        <a href="#" target="_blank"><img src="http://extras.latimes.com/extras/events/email/FOOD/14FOOD719/images/spacer.gif" style="display:block; border:none; min-width:600px; max-height:32px;" /></a></td>
                </tr>
            </table>

            <table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0">
                <tr>

                </tr>
            </table>
                  <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" bgcolor="#FFFFFF" style="min-width:600px">
                     <tr>
                        <td width="28" height="125" align="left" valign="top" style="min-width:28px">
                        <img src="http://extras.latimes.com/extras/events/email/AUD/14AUD832/images/spacer.gif" style=" min-width:28px; max-height:125px; display:block; border:none" /></td>
                        <td width="572" height="125" align="left" valign="top" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-weight:bold; font-size:17px; color:#000000; line-height:21px; min-width:572px; -webkit-text-size-adjust:none;">
                        <span style="color:#0098ce">The LA Times entertainment newsletter has been completely<br />
                        redesigned from top to bottom.</span><br />
                        <span style="font-weight:normal;font-size:13px">Now the information you seek &ndash; movies, television, celebrity, music &ndash; is easier to find and<br />
                        quicker to read. You&rsquo;ll be able to stay up-to-date on the topics that matter to you most from<br />
                        your computer, tablet or smartphone. And you&rsquo;ll enjoy complete coverage of the entertainment<br />
                        world that only the LA Times can provide.</span></td>
                     </tr>
                        </table>
        </td>
    </tr>
</table>
</body>
</html>

As you can see I placed min-width ont he outer table as well as on <td> cells, I tried every combination I could think of with no success. Gmail App for Android zooms the text so much that the lines of text go all the way to the end of the cell before the <br> tags.

If anyone has any idea how to get gmail to not do this then plz post. thanks in advance.
