I've been working on some responsive stuff (who hasn't!) and there is something that I haven't seen used. I wonder if you have?
The old school way of aligning 2 adjacent columns/articles was to build one table with top and bottom images so that both columns grew with whatever content populated each. White space wasn't so much a problem if boxes were both aligned!
Responsively this is a no no and everything I've tried just won't get those 2 columns to align. The buggers.
I've forced a height attribute, height style, I even inserted a spacer gif with a height and hid it when its stacked.
The answer may be a swift 'no', but a kids gotta try, right?
Cheers. Have a good day.
Hey LittleBen, this is certainly very interesting! Do you have a code demo, or Dabblet that we could possibly play with? I'm sadly not very good at visualizing this stuff :)
Ros, you diamond. Thanks for getting back. Busy week but will get some code up asap. Have a good day.
No worries Ben - ready when you are :)
Did you get a response to this? I think i'm facing a similar issue as described where 2 columns have differing heights. Have you seen/ heard of any way to align elements in a responsive design?
Hopefully the code here will explain the issue: http://dabblet.com/gist/8557200
Can't you just put the background color on the parent td?
Another trick is to make the smaller of the two, the parent of the bigger. This forces the height to match.
