Using Campaign Monitor to send individual emails via API

I'm completely new to Campaign Monitor and am looking for some advice.

We are launching a new website for which we are asking users to sign up with their email address.

Once we have approved their sign up we want to send them an email and temporary password.

We have a Campaign Monitor account which we use for bulk mail outs and our designer has created a template in CM for this email.

Is it possible/desirable to use CM to send this email to the new user?

From looking at the CM API docs it seems more geared towards sending emails to lists of subscribers rather than targeting individuals?

Where should I start?

Do I need to create a list of one person, i.e. the new user, and then create a campaign to send them the email containing their sign up details?

Any help appreciated

Many Thanks

Thanks for getting in touch and apologies for the delay in reply here.

I'm afraid we don't really support individual emails like that, although it's possible to set up and send campaigns to just a single recipient. However, this is something on our feature request list, so I've just gone ahead and added your vote for this. If it's something we release in the future, we'll be sure to let you know.

There are a few alternate services out there that allow you to send individual emails via an API. Here are a couple to check out:

Another alternative, depending on how you're sending out the emails to your recipients, is to look at using autoresponders. For example, if you wish to send an email out when someone joins the list via the API, you could always set this up by following these steps:

I hope that makes sense!
