Fee Explanation?

I was charge $5.94 for sending a campaign to 94 people with Campaign Monitor.  I was then charged an additional .18 on my credit card account.  I am not sure what the additional .18 is for.  Can someone please explain this for me.

We would have only charged you the $5.94 - it's likely that the extra cost was a charge from your bank. Recently we changed over to charging directly in USD to avoid any conversion charges -how recent was this campaign?

mad7771 and camthomas, thanks for the heads up about this, we're talking with our bank about it to try and get to the bottom of these additional charges. We charge in US dollars, so there shouldn't be any additional fees or charges. Get in touch with the support team and we can organize a refund for the additional charge until the issue is resolved.

I, too, have just now seen this 'international fee'. Apparently, Visa and Mastercard have been charging banks 1% on all international transactions, whether or not the currency is the same, since last year. Banks in the US have started passing those fees on to their customers, and mine started last month. I've also had 2 of my customers who pay themselves ask me why they were charged 1% this month.

You guys at CM must hear about this often. I'm feeling a bit desperate - wondering if I should change banks or cards, or something, but that would only solve my fee problems, not my customers'. What ways have you found to get around this?

Hi Carissa,

Unfortunately, we haven't found a way around it. It seems to only be a pretty small handful of people experiencing it so far. My own credit card companies/banks are huge on passing on fees but they don't even charge extra for Campaign Monitor fees so it's definitely not everyone yet. It's pretty frustrating.

Mark me down as receiving these extra charges as well.  Pretty frustrating.  I am with Bank Of America.
