Bulletproff Background Image in Cell code error in Outllok '07-'13

Hi Folks,

Really hoping that someone can help with this problem that I am having with the bulletproof background image generator here:
http://backgrounds.cm/

I have built an email that seems to work in all major email apps, with only Outlook '07, '10 & '13 not displaying properly. Specifically, the email is cut-off / truncated about 3/4 of the way down, and so does not display all of the email.

You can see the email here:
http://mystery.co.uk/emails/2015template/

The email uses 1 single table with 1 row & 1 column to house the background image, and then within that I nest the tables in order to get the desired design.

The code from the generator is as follows:
<td width="600" align="left" valign="top" background="http://mystery.co.uk/emails/2015template/images/white-brick-background.jpg" bgcolor="#e8e8e8">
            <!--[if gte mso 9]>
  <v:rect xmlns:v="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" fill="true" stroke="false" style="width:600px;">
    <v:fill type="tile" src="http://mystery.co.uk/emails/2015template/images/white-brick-background.jpg" color="#e8e8e8" />
    <v:textbox style="mso-fit-shape-to-text:true" inset="0,0,0,0">
  <![endif]-->
            <div>
CONTENT HERE
</div>
            <!--[if gte mso 9]>
    </v:textbox>
  </v:rect>
  <![endif]-->
  </td>

Am I missing something really obvious?... is it not possible to have nested tables within the table / table cell that has the background image code applied to it?

Do I still need to add the following code to the head of the html document:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns:v="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml">
<head>

Hope to hear from someone soon. Many thanks in advance for anyone who has the time to give on this.

Hey, Greg!

Erica here, from the support team. Thanks for getting in touch! The bulletproof background images do work in Outlook versions 2007, 2010, and 2013.

However, there have been a few cases where something silly like a missing semicolon broke the code, causing it to not work in 07, 10, and 13. Those are the problem versions of Outlook that Bulletproof Backgrounds were created to fix.

If you've removed the DOCTYPE information, I would definitely go ahead and replace it, as I don't believe Stig mentioned it's removal being necessary for Bulletproof Backgrounds.

You may just want to check over your code again, perhaps even starting fresh, if you made any changes to the generated code. Then, you can test and compare.

There is an article here from an independent blogger, that you may find helpful: http://blog.mailermailer.com/email-design/bulletproof-email-background-images-fact-or-fiction

If you're not able to locate the source of the problem, go ahead and write in to support@campaignmonitor.com and we'll do our best to help you find it. :)

Hi Erica,

Many thanks for the swift reply. Really appreciate it.

I can confirm that I have included the DOCTYPE info as follows:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns:v="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml">

I can confirm that I have re-generated the code using the wizard & pasted this into the email without change - replacing the opening & closing <td> tags on the table (cell) that I wish to affect.

I have visited the blogger's link before, but alas there is nothing there that shines a light on my issue.

I'll follow-up with an email to the support team as suggested & hope to receive a reply shortly.

Once again, many thanks for the reply. I'm sure this issue can be easily resolved by an expert.
