We've built a website that has a number of best practice documents (over 100) on it for download. Before a user can download a document, they are asked to supply their contact details and if they'd like to opt-in.If they opt-in, based on the document they download, we want them to receive an email with a custom message that links to related documents they might be interested in as well. The thing is they might download multiple documents in one go and... what if within those multiples there are a number of the SAME related documents? Can we get this to work with just the api... and a dynamic template.... ?
Is it possible to push content (including images, description, etc) to the autoresponder email - based on the info the user has supplied. I.E. Could we run a script on teh site every hour or so that works out a unique list of what to send them.. (no duplicates) as related info?
Any help greatly received!!!
Hi there Kris, your best bet here is to use autoresponders based on segments and create a different autoresponder email for each document. What this means is that you'll have to pass a value on signup corresponding to each document. However, on the downside, the visitor will have to enter their email address each time they want a document - and each doc will mean a separate autoresponder email.
Thinking about things differently, you might be better off using a built-for-purpose service like Easy Digital Downloads or SendOwl. Both these services integrate with Campaign Monitor, so you can still capture email signups, but likely not have to worry as much about things like confirmation emails and download links.
Thanks, Kris - let us know how you go :)
