It appears utm_term is picking up the information in the alt tag I've set for an image, I'd rather it not be in the tracking URL at all, is there anything I can do about that?

Hi, this is done automatically I'm afraid, so the best way to avoid it is either change the alt tag, or give the link around the image a title value. For example:

<a href="yourlink.html" title="This will become the utm_term"><img src="yourimage.jpg"></a>

In all cases the title value trumps alt text, or the text that's being linked if you're not using an image.
