Template Help - Float?

I downloaded your free templates and edited them and all looks dandy. I then sent an email and it was all distorted (I use some images with float tags) - so I did some reading and it appears that the float tag is the issue. However the free downloadable templates also use the float tag?

    #Content td#Primary img {
        border: 6px solid #e0e0e0;
        float: right;
        margin: 5px 0px 10px 15px;

I am not a designer or a client - I am a normal user (.net programmer) without much CSS knowledge or design skills (think there is a gap in your solution there!  ;)

Hi Rodney,

You're right, the float tag doesn't work everywhere. If email clients that you're targeting are ones that don't support it you can try removing the image float and instead put align="right" on the image tag, it's rather old school but it has better support than floats.

Hi dpotter,

Thanks for the answer - my question is though, why are there floats in the downloadable free templates, or are these backed up with table-based CSS?

I'm much in the same boat here and realise that I need to familiarise myself with a whole new array of tags after downloading a template. I emailed campaign monitor and asked if they had anyone who could do paid work for creating my first template (I know more or less what I want) which I could just edt each month or whenever, so would you be able to do this for me and if not could you give me a shove in the right direction or let me know who you might recommend to do this work.
Kind regards

Hi Rodney,

We have used floats in some of our templates, because some email clients do support them, and it does make the code much cleaner. Since Campaign Monitor is aimed at web designers, the templates are really intended as bases you can work from and customise to your particular audience.

Check http://www.campaignmonitor.com/css for details on support for CSS across the major email clients.
