Working with background images in email is challenging for a number of reasons. Email clients have limited support for CSS background images and for some of the properties for controlling how the background image appears—especially CSS3 properties.
In some of the email clients which don’t support the CSS properties for background images, the HTML background attribute can be used on table or <body> elements for basic background image support.
