Click Bait

Click bait describes web content whose sole focus is generating online advertising revenue at the expense of content quality or accuracy and often relies on shocking or inflammatory headlines, which are now often associated with “fake news.” There is an increased disdain for click bait and its cyber security threats because a large number of these links are spam-related or contain viruses. It has been well reported that Facebook is working to eliminate click bait from their feeds in an attempt to reduce the potential threat to their audience.
