Retargeting serves ads to people who have previously visited a website. The most common type of retargeting uses a piece of JavaScript placed on a user’s browser (commonly known as a ‘cookie’). That cookie will then serve a specific ad based on the user’s site visiting habits in an attempt to improve conversion rates. Many businesses segment their retargeting efforts based on which pages are visited by a potential customer.
